Losing a Job

The job market has become ruthless over the last few decades, and workers have found themselves with fewer and fewer rights as management has increased its power over the workplace. Each state has its own body of labor law, so navigating your way around will require an attorney. Most states require that employers carefully document the reasons you were terminated, but they are often not required to tell you WHY you were fired. Colorado is an 'employment-at-will' state, which means that each party--you and your employer--can terminate the employment whenever they want, no questions asked, and no answers given. However, no employer may terminate employment for reasons of discrimination, for filing a lawsuit against the company, for being a whistleblower, or any other number of reasons.

If you feel you have been terminated for reasons that are against public policy, contact us as soon as possible. Finding someone on your side should be your first step.
